Religion question (kinda long)

Religion question (kinda long)

Perhaps some of you could help me out here. I am Presbyterian, but have NEVER been to a wedding of my own religion. My FI is Catholic and has an uncle (a Deacon in the Catholic church) who would like to co-officiate. I don't have a major problem with this, except I wonder how much longer it will make the service. According to my minister a Presby. ceremony takes a MAX of 20 min. FI's uncle wants to add a bible reading and homily. Any guesses as to how much longer it will make the ceremony--it wouldn't be 'replacing' anything, so it would be additional time. FI hasn't really asked for much, so I don't want to make an issue if it'll only add a small amount of time. If it adds a big bulk onto the ceremony, then I might say something!

It would probably, depending on the lengt of the reading and homily, which can't be that long, will be an additional 10 minutes!! I can't see it being any longer than that unless his uncle goes off on a tangent with the homily, which I am sure he won't if you tell him you want the ceremony to be a certain length!!

It all depends on how long the homily is....the reading you will select, so you can choose one that is on the shorter side, and it will just be a few minutes. If you ask him to keep the homily brief, it shouldn't be too much longer.
I am having a full mass and I know some people hate that (especially the non-Catholics) but it is important to us. Catholic ceremonies (without the mass) are usually no longer than 30 minutes, sometimes shorter than that.
