Re: Religion question that I just do not know the answer to
Ramadan is a month long fast in november or december. I'm not sure what it commemorates though. I feel stupid for not knowing., but it's entirely independent of christmas, hanukkah, etc

Close, very close. Ramadan is a month long fast period, yes. However it is not necessarily in November or December. Because Islam follows a lunar calendar which does not take into account leap years, Ramadan falls when it falls, without any regularity in conjunction with a Western Calendar or even the seasons.
The Jewish Calendar is also Lunar, however we add a leap month every couple of years (I'm not sure of the pattern, maybe Jax or LBF404 would know) so that we stay in time with the seasons.

I know how the lunar calendar works being Jewish and all but my question is there an equivalent? like Chanukah doesnt fall the same time each year. So would the answer be ramadan? does that religion exchange gifts or anything?

Eid ul-Fitr, is the end of Ramadan, I believe they have parties & exchange gifts.
I thought it could be anytime of year, but for the last few & next few years it is in the fall.
This calendar tells you whenthe holidays fal for the next few years. I am not sure what they traditons are for the Festival of Sacrifice ( Jan) & the new year. ( Feb)

Sorry to be unclear, but as I was trying to say in the other post - Sometimes Ramadan is in the spring, sometimes it's in the fall, sometimes the summer, sometimes the winter. Chanukah isn't the same time every year, but it's always in December, or at least late November!
It's much more drastic with the Muslim calendar due to the lack of the leap months that the Jewish calendar includes.
