Remember shrinky dinks and sun catchers?

Remember the sun catchers...they came in shapes, for example, a fish and you had to fill in the openings with these tiny crystals. Then you had bake them in the oven for the crystals to melt. Where can i get them!!! I want to make some. I don't know if they make that type anymore, I have only seen the boring ones where you paint in the openings, not put the crystals in.

I think you have to take a time machine to get back to TSS in 1983! But could you pick up some shrinky dinks for me too! I miss those!

Maybe you can special order them online? Try googling them.

LOL TSS in 1983....ah those were the days. Why don't they make the crystals anymore were they poisonous? How come so many things are bad now but we all turned out (relatively) ok!

I used to LOVE shrinky dinks! But my mom wouldn't do them for us too often. She was sooo not into those high-maintenance toys! Turn the oven on so you can stick WHAT in it????

Ah, memories. Every once in a while I get a whiff of Colorforms--you know that plastic smell?--and it just takes me back!

Try Michaels! or Ebay

I just looked at Michaels website - they only have the ones with the paint, not the crystals.

I would say no on the capitalization. In fact, according to AP style, I believe it should be referred to as the 60's. We're talking the decade here, not sextagenarians, right?

Michael's has the suncatchers with the crystals. I made a butterfly one for my daughter and one shaped like Saturn for my son.

Sorry for the tangent, but yes, my boss thought sextagenarians would be lc & the decade cap. It is lowercase on the book I am editing ad copy for, but she thought it was a mistake. All I could find was that it should be numeric. That seems slang. Maybe I'll go with 1960's.

see, shrinky dinks & sun catchers. . . .MUCH cooler!

I make shrinky dinks with my nieces and nephews whenever they come to my house - I have the oven. It is the highlight of the visit for them! Toys R Us sells them.
