Remembering deceased parents -- donations as favors

Remembering deceased parents -- donations as favors

Because I lost both of my parents I wanted to remember them with donations as favors. The only problem is, my fmil REALLY wants favors. She said that whatever we pick out, she will pay for. She said that it is nice for people to take something home with them to remember the evening. I do not mind having something in addition to the donation, but I do not want the favor to over-shadow the donation (and my parents' memories). Any suggestions for combining the two?

Thanks!

alot of charitys have things you can buy on there websites maybe you can find something that you would like to give as a favor on one of them. avon always has really cool things for breast cancer charitys like candles and pins and pens. you can also give a scroll nothing the donation and have a pic of your parents perhaps there wedding picture and include in in the same package as the favor beleive me the donation will over shadow the favor. im sorry for your loss it must be really tough especially planning your wedding. i know how hard it was without my dad. your in my thoughts

OMG!! July05Bride I am in the same boat as you. Both of my parents passed away four years ago and my FI agreed to doing a donation so since my mom pased away from cancer and my dad from heart disease, we made a donation to the american cancer society and to the american heart association and we purchased cancer pins that had a heart in the middle. My uncle still said we should have people go home with something else so I am going to also do truffles.....hope this helped you. Good Luck and I am sorry for your loss - I know how hard it is for you.....

Thanks for the ideas. It is nice to know I am not the only one in this position.

I don't know who you are donating to, but if you donate for breast cancer, you can donate through avon and they send you GORGEOUS candles!

My friend did it and it was a hit!
