Annual Tent Sale:
Just a heads up cause I’m crazy about D&B and love to save money
Here’s the info
Dates & Tmes: December 11, 2003 Thursday 12pm – 9pm December 12, 2003 Friday 10am – 9pm December 13, 2003 Saturday 10am – 6pm December 14, 2003 Sunday 11am – 3pm
Place: Dooney & Bourke, Inc. 1 Regent Street E. Norwalk, CT / 06855
From NYC I-95 North Exit 16 (East Ave) Go right on East Ave to Fitch (around 3 traffic lights – You’ll see Penny’s Diner) Go left on Fitch to Strawberry Hill Go left on Strawberry Hill one block to Regent St Go right on Regent Street and you’re there. You should be able to see the tents.

Time to get there? Hrm.. honestly I can't even begin to tell you.
It's not that long. For Jim & I it's a nice trip away for a bit. We stop for breakfast, go to lunch and basically make a day of it.
I know I want to get a tote bag. Jim wants to see if they have any of the PDA covers. I might get a new checkbook holder. Jim also wants to see their luggage. Oh and we both liked their deck shoes.. wanna see if they have any there. This is my induldgence. Im good ALL year long for this one event! hehe

I pay over $100 a bag as well. It's a given. For me it's the savings over a $500 dollar bag that's only $250.
Honestly the savings vary. Some stuff is really marked down. Other stuff is closer to store price but still cheaper.
I save in an odd way. Because I don't buy anything all year long. I usually go to this tent sale everyother year. So overall, yes it saves me money.

OMG !! I saved SOOOO much money
It started with me wanting to buy a large tote bag. I've been traveling to and from work with my backpack and a tote.
So I got this big one tan and brown it was priced at $395. I got it for $197.50. This thing is HUGE. Got it in the luggage and work section. heh
After taxes we walked out paying $485.87 for lots of stuff.
We got nice warm gloves for both Jim & I. I got a new purse All black all-weather leather. I also got a new pocket book for my wallet stuffs (ID and such) and money in black and dark brown. My checkbook holder (which I bought two years ago at the tent sale) matches prefectly.
Everything was at least 40% most was 50% and they had stuff at 60% too!!! Really worth it.

PS from Hempstead Long Island to the Tent Sale (and included that Jim made me turn around and back track once) it took exactly one hour.
The backtrack was because its exit 16 on I-95 AFTER you get into CT. I-95 starts exits going up from 17 after the toll so Jim thought we had pased our exit. The numbers were going up. But after exit 19 they start again at 1.

I went to the sale today, IN THE SNOW. From Brookly, it took us around 2 and a half hours each way!!! Went with my friend and her in-laws. I didn't expect to find anything, because that stuff is usually not my style, but I found myself actually torn between 2 pocketbooks. I decided on a dark brown small satchel bag, normally $265 and I paid $130 plus tax. My bag I've been using til now was $15 so this is a big change for me. LOL.

Im happy for you.. I love this sale. My new purse was $295 I got it for $95!!! Love love love this sale.
The Metro North stops like right next to it. We'll probably take the train if the weather is bad next time.
I got really comfy gloves. I really can't see a need for anything else right now. Although Jim & I still want to see if their shoes will ever make it to the tent sale. heh.

I wanted to go but couldn't get up there this weekend. I'll have to remember to look for this sale next year
