My parents contributed the most out of our three sets, and the wording would have been out of control had we put on either FH's dad and stepmom or his mom and step dad. So we took the easy way out and just had the invite be from my parents:

Mr. & Mrs. X request the honor of your presence at the marriage of their daughter.... to Mr. Y on 12/7/08, yada yada yada

FH's parents weren't insulted at all and we didn't hurt anyone's feelings by which parent was put first, etc.
