Removing tar from carpet? updated

My wonderful DH called me at work to find out what he should use to get tar out of our less than a year old bedroom carpet. I cant even be upset with him. But I have told him 100 times not to wear his boots in there.

So I am hoping that one of you lovely ladies can help me.

I checked on the internet and I found out that WD40 takes out tar stains. I was a little hesitant but at this point I didnt have anything to lose. So I sprayed the WD40 on a white towel dapped the stain and it WORKED!! After that I got out the Oxi clean. The stain is all gone.
