Re: Renter's Insurance
We got insurance through Allstate. The cost depends upon the amount of personal property you're insuring, etc., but the cost is only about $100 per year.

Re: Renter's Insurance
I have it through Traveler's also. I was paying about $100-$125 a year. Then I added my e-ring to the policy and it went up to $400+ a year. It's worth it for peace of mind should something happen to my e-ring though.

Re: Renter's Insurance
I have it bundled with my car insurance so its about 7 a month. It went up a bit when I added a rider for my E-ring. Try bundling with car cause then they cut you a break.

We can't get renters insurance believe it or not. Too close to the water in Long Beach. E-ring was put on FMIL's homeowners.

Re: Renter's Insurance
I have never been without renters insurance.
I went to my auto insurance and got a policy through them.
I think the whole policy was $150-$200 for the whole year and covered $50,000 of my stuff minus a $1000 deductable.
I did add my jewelry on and it went up about $150 for the whole year.
Worth every penny, and I think its a MUST have.

That's what happened to us also...went up about $300 to $550, based on the appraisal. I'm pretty sure I overestimate the value of what we have in the apartment but I'd rather pay a bit more and know that if god forbid something happens we won't lose everything.
We get ours through Progressive, I also have my car ins there

Re: Renter's Insurance
We originally paid $150 a year for renters insurance through Liberty Mutual which covers 25k in damage and 100k in liability. However, we added my e-ring this year, so the annual fee when up to $750 a year.

Re: Renter's Insurance
call whoever you use for car insurance, and you can usually get a discount. i have geico and they partner with travelers insurance. i think it was about $100/yr. totally worth the $ for piece of mind :)
