Re: renters insurance

we don't have it. we've been living in our apt for over 2 years and our landlord just asked us last month to get it cause he needs to submit proof to his insurance. but we're not getting it cause we're closing on a house next month so its not worth it.

i guess it cant hurt to get it cause you'll be covered for all your possesssions. not sure how much it costs.

ugh my mother keeps tell me I need to get this renter's insurance. She and my father own the co-op we live in and she thinks we need it and I keep putting it off.

Re: renters insurance

we have it through Kemper, $210 a year. worth it, our complex requires it anyway,

but just an FYI, if anything was ever stolen from your car, it's covered under your RENTERS, not auto.

we have it. better to be safe than sorry. it is not too expensive. we added my ring insurance to that and THAT was pricey! We have it through Liberty mutual.

Re: renters insurance

we have it!

and i wanted it for the weding rings (and i am borrowing a very expensive bracelet from our jeweler, and thats been in our apartment for a month), so we ended up putting everything on there. you total up everything and just submit a number. our was about $250 a year.

i think its worth it. you never know what can happen. fire, theft etc...

Better safe then sorry and its inexpensive. When we rented I think we paid $200/year.

Yeah it's necessary. The house has insurance but that doesn't include your personal belongings. We went through our car insurance (geico) and are paying 169 for the year. It's worth it.

we have it too - my ring is covered on it. i think ours is around $300/year. i think it's a small price to pay to make sure that all of our belongings are protected!

edited: ours was through Liberty Mutual

Re: renters insurance

I only got renter's insurance when I got my ring, because I needed some way to insure it. I added it as a rider on the policy and for everything for a $25K policy plus my ring rider I Think I pay a little over $400 a year. I also included offt site theft protection which is optional, which means if anything gets stolen from me outside my house, it's covered.

Really, get renter's insurance. It's so cheap and worth the peace of mind. You never know.

We have it, and were so thankful when our apt was broken into this past spring. Those a-holes stole our really $$$ camera, video camera, laptop, our wedding rings and some heirloom jewelry.

MetLife covered everything and the turn around time was really fast. I never thought renters ins. was a must have until that event. Now, I wouldn't live in an apt without it!

Re: renters insurance

We have travelers and its like $240 or something a year. And they aren't monthly payments - they are every other month. It's just that the amount has to be paid off within a year. I just paid part of it like two weeks ago so now I don't have to make a payment until September. The minimum is usually only like 20 something dollars but I always do more so I don't owe much towards the year mark.
