Renting restaurants in NYC for a small wedding?

Hello everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has been to a wedding in a restaurant in NYC, and would recommend locations and give me rough info about the logisitics: price, whether I can also have a reception there, etc.

It's hard to find reception halls for under 80 people, so I was thinking of maybe having it in a restaurant,

Help, PLEASE!!!!!

I haven’t done it, so I have no clue about price or logistics, but I’ve seen that Candela can be rented. Beautiful resturant, and I would seriously consider it I didn’t go on a date there with someone other than the FH!

Bubby's in Brooklyn is a GREAT space and has amazing views of NYC.
Jojo is the catering manager there. I reached out to her regarding an engagement party.

I thought that it closed for a bit for renovations and would open again?

Actually it is closed (I live around the corner), and it is supposed to reopen and a completely different place, but there's anything in the works.

I bet you can ask many of them to host a wedding...esp if you did it during a weekend afternoon (instead of evening).

Just went to a baby shower with only 50 guests (that was in Queens) & they shut down the restaurant for us for 4 hrs (more than enough time). Food was great too.

From the ones I know...uva has a private room downstairs. I'm sure if you have a restaurant in mind & you can guarantee them a packed house: they would do it.

We had a 50 person wedding at the 3 West Club in Manhattan. It's on 51st and 5th right across from St. Patricks Cathedral and around the corner from our co-op! It was fantastic and the food was to die for! FM me if you would like some more info

Il Vagobando is a small Italian place on the upper east.

Sambuca is an Italian place on the Upper west, but I don't know if it's Small. The food is AWESOME though!

Candela would've been beautiful, too bad it closed...

I posted about the same place in a bridal shower post.. the place i am having my eparty would be perfect for a small wedding like that.. and very affordable!!! If you are willing to travel about 20 minutes out of manhattan..it's called Cozy Royale Catering.. holds 100 people ..80 for dancing... Food is excellent.. all inclusive.. they will do centerpieces for like 10$ a table.. prices start around $30 for an entire meal/cake/everything $40 bucks will get you an open bar and your meal with appetizers, dessert, etc.!!! You get three entree choices, 2 apps, 2 sides, etc. Mind you they do this family style so your guests can have a little of everything..they do need to choose just one! I could send you a copy of the menu and some pics of the inside from my BMs rehearsal dinner if you are interested!! It's really ver very nice.. if my wedding was smaller i would do it there. It looks like a mini reception hall!!! It's about 4 blocks from the BQE exit ..so easy for people to get too.. and the food is EXCELLENT! everything from italian to spanish rice. Let me know if you want more info! :) good luck!

FH and I were just in Brooklyn yesterday (walked over the bridge and ate at Grimaldi's and then Brooklyn Ice Cream factory). There were a bunch of brides down there taking pics, and it looked like there was a wedding going on at the River Cafe. It's normally a pretty expensive restaurant, but for a daytime wedding it might not be too bad and you can't be the location (on the water, more or less under the Brooklyn Bridge).

When I was looking @ venues potentially in NYC, I stumbled upon this. I think this may be right up your alley because it has many different rooms that accomodates the size of your party

Hi, I have a question for you. I called 3 West and they said they have a 100 person minimum. You said you had a 50 person wedding there. How did you get them to allow it?:)

Tratoria Dopo Teatro (Sp) is a really nice restaraunt in the theatre district. They have some really nice rooms that would be perfect for a smaller wedding. You may also want to check out Providence on West 57th Street , they have a couple of floors and they should definetly have something that would suit your needs.

Bryant Park Grill does weddings. They have 2 different dining rooms and an outside area on a deck that can be used for cocktail hour or ceremony. The prices for dinner and open bar are about $150/pp. I have pictures and menus from when I looked into it, FM me if you want more info.
