On your reply cards, did you have a line for the number of guests attending? Example below:
M--------------------------------------
------------Will attend ------------Will not attend
------------ Number of guests
Or did you leave the 'number of guests' line out?

ETA: Also, if we're inviting just a single guest, does the 'number of guests' line make it more likely they will try to bring along another guest?

I left out the will will not attend and just left number of guests and dont forget to number them on the back or inside!

No I think its fine the way you have it. See for me I needed to know how many guests than rather will or will not attend, I didnt want that confusion ok will attend does that mean both of them or if it was for a family just easier for me to keep count that way, to see the number than the check mark.

I am going to fill in the name so they don't add people on their own, it will just be a check box of whether they're coming or not. I read it in a brides magazine where the bride was worried about people adding guests or children who were not invited.

Are you doing DIY invites? We're having letterpress so I think that may be too pricy to add the names in for us. It's a good idea if you're making your own though.

for SOME of the RSVPs I filled out the number of persons attending because some of my family members don't fully understand the meaning of 'and Guest'.
