Even though it is such a serious incident, I can't help but laugh at the American news networks....very typical of our news.

To the BBC

It's okay to laugh sometimes. I know you're not laughing AT the incident.

Every news network im watching they didn't say it was minor. The dumb A$$ president did though.

FoxNews isn't 'news' - it's too bad that channel has so many viewers

Well, let me clarify...I switch back and forth between all the web-sites...

And I have to say that they're ALL sensational. There are tactful ways to deliver the news. But the media feeds into all this so much. The bigger the story, the better. And if it's not so big, well then EXAGGERATE!

Re: Reports on the recent London incidents...

It seems to be pretty minor here. But I find the London authorities are not very forthcoming with news most of the time. I guess they don't wnat to confirm things. I have a feeling that the news teams have just been poised for any hint that something might be going on, so there's major coverage for even the smallest incident.

We have been told that we shouldn't use public transportation unless we need to...I'm wondering if meeting DH for drinks after work is a 'need to' kinda thing!

Well, for starters they have that stupid ticker tape on the bottom of the screen that implies that something is serious, but it's really just rehashing the same stuff over and over again. It's just alarmist.

The reporting has a very strong right wing bias. They habitually feature debates on seemingly unrelated topics and then somehow link them to major news stories when it's obvious that they've exhausted a story.

It's just very skewed, very biased reporting.

They're not even calling them bombs - they're saying 'devices'

'devices' please..a cell phone is a device...are they just trying to down play what happened??

of course there are small bombs....just like there are small cars, there are big cars. if it was a bomb on a bigger scale, things would of gotten blown up (more). take for example, the bus... 2 weeks, the bus was in peices, today bus attack just blew out the windows. 50+ ppl died 2 weeks ago with so far reported 1 injury today. Devices or bombs, they are still investagating it...whatever it is, its not good.

how are you holding up usak?
sarahthegreat Posted:

Re: Reports on the recent London incidents...

i understand that so the public remains calm....i also think that they really don't quite know what happened so they really can't report on what they don't know

i know what you are saying and i know that there are smaller boms, but a bomb is a bomb and to me it shouldn't matter if it was big or small
