We are having a DW in Ireland- just spoke to the Priest and he said I have to go to my Priest here and fill out some forms. I am wondering if any of you had to fill out:
1- Letter of Freedom
2- Pre-nuptial Enquiry Form
TIA Ladies

Re: Repost: Catholic Brides
I didn't have to fill any of those papers out here to get married in the Catholic Church, but maybe those have to do with irish Catholic Law.

Re: Repost: Catholic Brides
These are pretty easy - don't be intimidated!
This is the way I understood these two:
The letter of freedom simply stipulates that you are 'free' to marry in the Catholic Church (meaning you have been baptized and have not been married before) If you were married before, then they need to document the anullment/death of spouse.
The inquiry thing is a sort of application that you both are agreeing to marry before God and the Catholic Church and that you will raise your children Catholic. It asks questions about each of you, your parents, place of baptism/christening, if you're related (no joke!) and basic questions such as address, phone #.
These two things are submitted to the Diocese and when you complete Pre-Cana the Church allows you to schedule your ceremony/wedding!
Good luck. I hope this helps! ps just got back from Ireland for a vacation! Where will you be getting married? If FMIL hadn't had a problem with it, FH and I totally would have married there!

We had to do both. It's just a few easy questions.

Re: Repost: Catholic Brides
we did them both the letter of freedom he gave to us to return when we go with our marriage licence, the other he asked us questions and filled it out himself, they are no big deal

Re: Repost: Catholic Brides
Since we are not getting married at our parish, we had to do both. It was easy our parish gave us both and we forwarded it to the other church.
