Repost - Destination Wedding Help

Hi,

I was hoping someone could help.

We had our wedding booked for next summer in Dorado, Puerto Rico, and were told last week that the resort (Hyatt) is closing as of this May!!! As a result, we no longer have a destination for our wedding next July. As you can imagine, I'm extremely upset. We are desperately looking for another location, preferably in PR, but will look into any other islands. We're trying to find a place that is not only beautiful, but affordable (hotel and air) for our guests. If anyone has any suggestions on locations/hotels/resorts that you may have had your wedding at, attended a wedding at, or honeymooned at, I would GREATLY appreciate it. I can use any help I can get!!
TIA

i would go to a travel agent to get some ideas.....you don't necessarily have to book with them. you can get the ideas and then book on-line--but i definetely think you might want to seek some advice from an expert on this one! so sorry you have to deal with this!

Thanks.
I actually have a wonderful wedding planner/agent who is looking into it for us. However, I really want the advice of someone who's been to a possible wedding location so I don't risk being disappointed.

i wasn't there for a wedding, but the Domincan Republic is beatiful and not that expensive. Just a suggestion for another island to look into!

I went with my family 2 years ago and we stayed at Breezes.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The hix island house looks sooo different (in a good way!). Is there much to do there? Are the guest rooms open? It's definitely interesting!!

i should add, its not a major over-developed island so there isnt any banana boats or whatever kinda stuff like that.
