FH and I have been tossing around the idea of having the GM and him wear suits instead of tuxes. FH feels he would like this better, as it would be a little less formal. Our wedding is at Carlyle and it's a day wedding, so I think this would work.
Then we saw the People magazine article on Tiffani Theissen's wedding to Brady Smith, and he really likes the look of the tan/beige suit Brady wore.
My question to you is: Would this be suitable? (no pun intended! lol) I don't want the GM and FH to get lost in the crowd, but in all honesty, most wedding guests (men that is.. ) tend to wear dark suits anyway.. so in my twisted head, this idea could work
Thanks in advance for all your thoughts on the topic (and FH thanks you too! )
Do wedding dresses HAVE to be White-White? Of course not!
If your wedding is more 'suited' to the guys wearing suits, then go for it! The flowers on their lapel will surely give away the fact that they in the bridal party. (BTW, it definitely seems like suits for the BP are becoming pretty popular!)
I agree--the picture of Tiffany's wedding is beautiful! Good Luck!

My FFIL is wearing a grey tux (it is Christan Dior). This would work well for a 'day' wedding.

That was my other idea... but now with the fathers.. what would they wear? If the guys wore gray, it's easy.. dads in gray too.. but if the guys wear beige, could the dads wear gray? It's probably just easier to do the tuxes!

Well the dads could wear brown (suits or tuxes) or navy.

My husband wore a black tux and the groomsmen wore grey tuxes since I thought that color would look best with the BM's pink dresses...

Our GM wore grey walking suits & DH wore a gret Morning suit by Ralph Lauren...elegant but not overly formal like regular tux. We had a day wedding.

Honestly, no. They having something called a morning suit that is gray. It's what people having fancy morning weddings use to wear. Even if you just want them in a nice suit, I say go for it.

A girl I know got married a few weeks ago. For her formal backyard wedding on the water she had the boys in silk kaki/tan pants and tan suit jackets. I didn't see them but I heard they were really nice and the boys were really comfortable.
They did have to pay $475 for the ensemble but it worked. (No place rented them)

My FSIL had a casual Nantucket wedding and the GMs wore khakis from Brooks Brothers with navy blazers and a Nantucket themed tie - they looked very nice.

Thats what I'm afraid of... If we have to buy them for them, thats an added expense! I would hate to have them lay out so much money...

I've seen this done in person, and I love it.. I just know FH doesn't and it's over the top preppy according to him.. he's preppy, but as he says he's 'not a tool'... his logic is amazing to me!
