I know that flowergirls traditionally wear white, but I have come across quite a few weddings where the FG was wearing either white or the color chosen for the BM gowns (or an accent color). I've come across a very adorable (not to mention affordable) FG dress that comes in both the colors I'm using for my wedding - PINK & CELADON. I LOVE them in these colors and I'd like for them to walk down the aisle in either one. I've made mention of this to a couple of people and they've informed that FG's MUST be in white. I never really thought the FG had to be a miniature version of the bride, but rather, just an adorable version of herself.
My question is, does it matter to you if your FG is in white or in the color of your choice? Which dress would you choose? Please share your thoughts ladies.
PERSONALLY, I feel that if it's not white or ivory it doesn't really say 'flower girl.' Also, as cute as those dresses are, the ones in 'color' look more like Easter dresses, not flower girl dresses.
I say the white with a colored sash.

Re: REPOST: FG dress - to color or not to color?
I do understand what CLMon7906 is saying...however. Everyone is going to know she is the flowergirl. I have seen absolutely adorable ones who weren't in the white. I say it is your wedding and if you love the second dress go with that. And maybe since its not white over the next year (before she grows out of it) she will be able to wear it again

OMG I used that same FG dress - the second pic you posted. I had the same colors as you.
Here is the whole bridal party. The BM dresses were celedaon wth a pink sash. My MOH wore a pink dress and the FG wore the pink dress.
Here is a pic of the FG alone

Re: REPOST: FG dress - to color or not to color?
I had the same ques/problem. At first i picked a FG dress to match my BM color- Celadon too! then I thought it might be too much green, i have a pretty big party. And someone also told me the same thing ( that FG should be mini versions of the bride). So I just switched the same type of dress for white. As for your choices, I actually really like the white dress with a celadon sash, if available. good luck!

Re: REPOST: FG dress - to color or not to color?
My girls wore blue and my FGs wore ivory and blue in a style that was similiar to mine (both of our dresses had bows in the back).
IMO, flowergirls are adorable no matter what you dress them in!
i think you should choose whatever you like, it's your day! i am not using the traditional white fg dress look either. i fell in love with the style of the fg dress and had to get it for my fg! i was it at phylli's bridal elegance(gownfind) shop while trying on gowns, and loved the rose petal bottom. it is two tone, and the red of the top part of the dress matches my bms and moh gowns, not exactly, but pretty close. it comes in other two-tone colors, so u can see them online if you want at www.litoonline.com

I say go with whichever dress you prefer. It's your wedding, and like someone else said, there will be no mistaking who the FG is.
Right now I have one FG that is wearing white with sash to match BM dresses. However, if my niece is walking she will be my second FG and she will be wearing a dress very similar to the one posted above with the flower petal bottom, and the red bodice and white skirt.

I told the FG's mother to just pick a dress that was in any of the 3 wedding colors. (White, Black or Red) I wasn't concerned. SOme people probably flipped that she was in red and black, but those are my favorite colors and she matched beautifully!
Do what you want!
Here's pics of mine: The first one is with her mom (who was also a BM) The 2nd is of her coming down the aisle with my mom and her brother
I would have LOVED to have my FG in a colorful dress. But she already had an ivory dress from another wedding she was in (a very adorable dress), so she wore that. But I think she would have looked so cute in a pink dress

i say go with whatever you want...i am not into the whole fg/mini bride thing...i personally cringe when manufacturers offer mini flower girl versions of bridal gowns....
i am going with a diamond white fg dress and a wine sash to match the moh. it is in my community album.
with that said..i say go color!!!!!

Re: REPOST: FG dress - to color or not to color?
Thank you so much for your responses ladies. I'm going to stick with my original plan and choose a colored FG dress. I just have to have my two girls in something that has a little 'pop' and I think these colors will be a perfect way to show them off. I'm happy to see I'm not the only one doing this. I can't wait to see them in their dresses on the big day.

Hi I was thinking of having my FG is Tiffany Blue /Aqua...since my girls are are espresso brown...but if I can't find a dress with a reasonable price I might do white with a tiffany blue sash....

I think color is perfectly fine! Go for whatever you like better.
I love dress #1 though...can you tell me who the designer is or where I can find it? It's so pretty!
Thanks!

I chose against white because I hated the mini-bride look. The child is part of the bridal party, so she can most certainly match. Here is a pic of mine
