repost: Final meet over phone?

How does everyone feel about doing the final meeting over phone?

My venue wants it to happen Wednesday morning, I did not know that. The person who deals with this is not free next weekend when we are back in town. Not free Thursday morning before the wedding because there's a huge golf event that day he's in charge of. We did not plan to drive back till Wednesday evening and we have other people driving with us. People who have hotel rooms booked.
So I'm stuck with confirming everything about my wedding via the phone.

I am tad uncomfortable with that.

What do you think? Do you think it's a big deal?

That's the thing.

The person I have been dealing with Day One is the event coordinator. There's no guarantee she will be there the day of. So she is the one who I have been talking to.
Then 2 weeks before the wedding I'm suppose to contact someone else who is suppose to confirm that everything is in place. Everything that has been promised to me is written down, etc. So that then gets passed to the matire 'd that is there day of.

So the whole event coordinator - other dude- to maitre'd thing freaks me out. Especially with not going over everything in person. Because yeah he may or may not read everything to me over the phone. I guess what i can ask is for them to email me everything beforehand that we're suppose to finalize so I can see it before the phone meet.

There were a good amount of things promised to me too that were out of the norm.

I think then I would demand to speak to someone over the weekend. I am a big face to face person and something like that I want to make abosolutely certain that everything was going to be ok.

But..that's just me..and I am a control freak.
