Repost: flash photography and ghost face

I posted this in the BHB forum...but sometimes I feel like I get more responses from my '08 girls!!!

I feel like whenever i take flash photography pictures with makeup on, my face looks white!!! But in person, it looks totally natural and the same color as my neck. Even if i just use tinted moisturizer and just a TOUCH of powder, it'll look white.

It doesn't matter what brand...it happens with all of them, clinique, Bare Escentuals...even my beloved MAC.

Is this just due to the direct flash?! Will this happen with wedding photography too....since they also use flash?!

this will NOT happen with a professional photographer - they know how to avoid / fix that

Maybe it's a combination of both? Do you use bronzer?

Your make-up must be photo friendly. Lots of long-wearing formulas do not photograph well. You must ask for a 'photo friendly' formula.
I work part-time for Estee Lauder...we have about 10 different foundations and only 4 are photo friendly.

I usually use MAC...i told them it was for an engagement shoot and i wanted a sheer finish and they went from there. (I did wear bronzer too....)

Would you happen to have any foundation recommendations?

From Estee Lauder I would suggest Equalizer Foundation. It's for combination skin...I have a picture of my sil on her wedding day. I did her makeup and used it on her

Also... Many foundations have SPF in them. The higher the SPF, the more reflective it will be due to the high content of titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. Titanium dioxide and zinc oxide are the ingredients used to block the sun's damaging rays, but they also block light for photography as well causing you skin to appear white and ashy in your images.

HTH
