I ordered my wedding dress at RK Bridal on May 15 and I got a call today from the seamstress that the dress arrived today and that I should come in for my first fitting.
First, how on earth does it take 1 week to order a wedding dress?
Second, why am I going for a fitting when my wedding is just under 1 year away?
Did they give me someone else's dress? Is this strange to you?

RK is weird that way. I know it's different, but my mother ordered her dress from them and it was delivered to her in FL like a week and a half later. Pretty weird!

NO THAT IS NOT NORMAL....You should NOT go for a fitting this soon....

Wow! Much too soon for your first fitting, but definately call and make sure it's your dress. If it is, then decide if you want to take it home now or leave it there for a year. Did they give you a delivery date? If they did, and they want you to pay for it now, tell them you were working by their date and that you won't have the money in full until then.

Hi ladies,
I called them and they said the store had it stock and that is why it came so soon. He confirmed the dress and style number. They said I can wait a few weeks, but that I should come in for a try-on no later than 3-4 weeks after it comes in but they wouldn't do actual fitting an alterations until much much later. So, I feel a little better, but I still think it's strange that it came in one week. My receipt has the wedding date as my delivery date and says that 'all orders take approximately 10-16 weeks.' I didn't think about them charging me.... that would be nuts. When I go in for the try-on, I'll make sure they keep it free of charge. They shouldn't have orderd it this soon. Argh!

that is kinda weird ...
i ordered my dress and they said it would take 2 months, it actually came like 2 weeks later (davids bridal)
