How long before your wedding did you meet with the church music director? Did your FH come with you?

I never met w/the musician (church organist) for our wedding....I spoke with her two nights before over the phone, and asked what she played, and we compromised.

We met with out Church music director 2 1/2 months before out wedding. We both went. It was pretty quick but then again I knew a lot of what I wanted. But he did give me a few other options which was nice.

i am not meeting with mine as I am not using them... friends that are church musicians will be doing our music.
however, as a cantor, i would say meeting with your church organist or cantor about 2 months before is typical. it gives you a chance to decide what you would like, as well as giving the cantor or organist time to learn and rehearse what you want (if they don't already know it.) however, i would be prepared to make the final decisions at this meeting. (bring your own suggestions and the organist will play through other options for you and then you can decide.

About 6 weeks before....I was flipping out because I thought that wasn't enough time...he said he had met with couples the week before and the week of
