Repost from '07 Board-Taking pics of dresses at Boutiques

Why won't the dress stores allow us to take pictures of the dresses we like (besides using the pic to find the dress online for cheaper)? My MOH lives in Europe and I want her input on the dress......How can I do this if I can't take a picture of the dress? Will they let me write down the designer/style #?

Thanks

The store I went to ripped out any tags so you can't tell what the brand it without asking and also has their own system of style numbers so it's harder to track down online - i think it's so shady.

I had no problems taking pics at any of the places I went to..except of course the place I found THE dress... in that shop it was the same situation that RudysMom posted... no pics allowed, no tags, diff., numbering styles etc. And when I aksed what styles they were cuz I wanted to show pics to my mom who couldn't come with and my BM who lives in Germany, she said she has to look it up int he computer and she kept avoiding it kinda. Well she eventually told me the BM dress maker, but I can't find the dress on their website, so I think its wrong, and she finally told me my dress style AFTER I put a deposit down. Well lets just say, if I ordered it online, I could have saved like $300.

the bridal suite of bay shore leaves it's tags on if you wanna go there and try to find your dress. they also allowed me to take a pic of me in it before i bought it - but i think that was just a fluke since the owner wasn't there and the girl i was working with seemed young/new. but they also give you a lot of privacy in the dressing room (esp if you have a lot of dresses they need to put away) so it's a good time to sneak a pic. that's a good time anywhere really - or tell them you'd rather your mom/friend help you get dressed b/c you're embarrassed or something and sneak a pic then.

you have to go to a different place........if they aren't ripping you off, they wouldn't be afraid of some price competition

I got my BM dresses at the Bridal Suite of Bayshore also. They are GREAT! Pretty much any dress you find they can get for you and cheaper. And I agree with what one of the other girls said, the places that don't have the tags in them are definitely ripping you off. But if you love the dress and don't care about the price, you can sneak a pic in the dressing room. Good luck!

Many stores do it...just ask them if they can tell you...or usually I would race home and look through magazines to find the dress

I got my dress at Fantasia Bridal center and at first when I started looking in like May/June - they let us take pics, then we went back a couple of months later and they said no more pics because the designers were giving boutiques a hard time about this; I guess they are afraid of duplication or something??
