Repost from '07 - If you can make the trip - Dress Shopping in NJ

I just wanted to share in case some of you ladies can make the trip ... New Jersey doesn't charge tax on clothing, and I've been to 3 dress shops in NJ that don't charge for alterations:

Reba Bride's in North Bergen
Memories in North Bergen
The Wedding Store at Liz Clinton

This could save people hundreds. I don't think all stores do this, but it's worth calling in advance.

I live in NJ and bought my dress here too. In addition to the shops above, I would HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend House of Brides in Denville, NJ. The staff there are just no words to describe the owner Judy. She made my dress shopping experience which I was dreading one of the most memorable experiences when I was planning my wedding. She definately goes that extra mile and then some.

Hi, I live on LI, but when my friend got married (she lived in SI) we went to NJ for our dresses. We actually used House of Brides & I too highly recommend them

I got my dress in NJ too. Tesi Bridal. She has a small store, but hand picks her dresses and I found them to be very different from the norm I was finding. She was patient and great too and no tax on my dress.
