Did the girls who already got their marriage license need their birth certificate??
The lady at the county office just told me that since I am not a minor, I do not need a proof of age and that a passport or driver's license will do. But the NY state website states that I do need a proof of age!

I only saw that it is required for people under 18 who are getting married. I think you may only need proof of identity.

I think what I would do is GO to the office. Talk to the actual person who gives out marraige licence. ASK them what you need.
The NYS site DOES say you need the birth certificate. I would not believe anything you hear, except from the clerk who actually takes your money and hands you the paperwork to fill out.

If it's easier to just bring it than to track down someone who knows for sure, I say just bring it and see it.
