Repost from 2010 - out of country guests

FH is Polish with lots of family that still ilve in Poland...I am Peruvian and lots of my family stil live in Peru. Both set of families do not speak Engish

From my side, I know noone will be able to come to our wedding and from his side his grandma might come. Out of courtesy, we will be sending them invitations...my question is....can I send them DIY invites (I'm talking abt the ones that require no work and are template based, low price ones) I was planning on doing these in both english and polish....I think it's a waste of $ if I send them invites I will use for other guests (those residing in the states that will 99.9% come) and also the fact that they wont understand the language!!!

anyway, what do u guys think? is this tacky?

oh and fyi..i wouldn need to diy about 30 invites

I don´t think that it´s tacky. I think that they will appreciate the thought of receiving a formal invite. Most people don´t expect to receive it. At least this is the my case. I have family in Ecuador (where I am currently living) that I know will not be able to go to the wedding. I know they can´t come. They know they can´t come. They know I know they can´t come . I mentioned to one of the ones closer to me that I was going to give out invites anyway and she thought that was so nice. She said the other fam that got married in the states never sent an invite. they just called an told people.

In my little experience here, people are more practical outsite the us. they don´t care about the little details like we do. I talk about certain things and they say they have never seen that. Even in the fancier weddings, there are some things that aren´t done here.

You have to also consider the cost of shipping. The heavier the package the more it costs and shipping overseas can be expensive.

This is just my opinion. I assume Peru is similar to Ecaudor b.c it´s right next door. As for poland, I have no idea.

I dont think thats tacky at all.
I have family coming / not coming from Belgium, France, Israel and my mom wants to send some very close family that wont be able to attend invites.
I was worried about sending an expansive invite to those who wont come, but ur idea rocks (esp the different language part for those)
u mind if I steal?

Might as well do it.

I sent out invites to my family (in which ALL of them are from another country). They dont even get invites printed out over there. They write them up. I wish i had done that instead of sending them-because 1 they were just courtesy and 2 they dont RSVP in my country!
