Hi girls! Can anyone help me? Thanks!!!

Please, please, please help!

OK, so me, FH and my mom are going to the RH I would like to book next Wednesday. What do we do? Try to negotiate and write the check for the deposit or just do the deposit and negotiate later? Do we sign the contract then? I mean, it's hard to do during the week (we have to leave work, evenings are NG) and weekends they have weddings so can't meet. I have no idea what to do. Did you guys bring your parents and then go home and discuss what you wanted to negotiate? And then go back again? Please help!! I don't know how to go about this!

Well i am not sure how you want to go about booking BUT this is what we did!

We first went to our hall, received pricing and info, went home and discussed with my parents (then looked at other halls for about 3 weeks). We then went back (still alone/ without parents) and compared prices with other halls, and what they would be offering us. This is when we went about our 'negotiating' and pretty much set a price. ONE MORE TIME went home to discuss with parents and set up an appoinment to view and sign contract with my parents. I think it is important to figure out everything BEFORE you commit bc once they have you, that is it!!!!!! I hope this helps a little!!!

This is what we did.

We went, got pricing info, looked at their contract and asked them if we could take it home with us to look over (by the way - ANY hall SHOULD give this to you without a problem - we had one hall that was weary of giving us a copy to look at....shady!).

We took it home, looked it over, and then we made up an addendum to the contract. I can email you a copy of it if you want to see what it looked like. Basically we wanted to add in things like an 'Act of God' clause (meaning if a hurricane, war, etc. comes blowing through our hall and destroys it, we get all our money back), making sure the price was FIXED upon signing, etc.

Then we went back with the contract and addendum, had our BM look over our addendum and sign it, and then we singed the contract and addendum!

I think its really important to CAREFULLY LOOK OVER YOUR CONTRACT. At the first place we looked at (Montauk Yacht Club), there was a clause that said that AFTER signing the contract our price MIGHT go up 14% - YIKES!!! Glad we saw it BEFORE signing.

At the OFC there was a clause written into the contract that basically said 'We are not responsible for providing air conditioning or water' if there was a power outtage. We made sure that was taken out.

Gee from reading what everyone else said I guess we pretty much rushed into it I knew I wanted CLM from reviews and pictures, so we set the date to go look at it, FH, my parents and me, and we booked it on the spot. We had time to discuss it alone without the BM there and we all really like it and the price was pretty good. We didnt look anywhere else and Im happy with it.
