I picked up my invites today, and realized that I stupidly assumed that inner and outer envelopes would both come with my invitations. My lined envelopes have my return address printed on them, so I don't even think I could add an inner envelope. Is having only an outer envelope a big deal?
My aunt said that the only confusion would be exactly who was invited to the wedding (if any families had children -- we are only inviting kids in the BP). Could I fix this, by filling out the names on the response card before I send them?

you have got tons of time... can you just order inner envelopes? i don't see why you couldn't add them with a lined outer envelope. i also don't think it's too big a deal to go without the inners, if you address the outer envelopes explicitely to who you're inviting.

lots of people go without inners these days. I would just be explicit on the outer as to who is invited.

Do you think that people will think their children are invited, even if their children's names are not on the envelope. That's what I am afraid of.

not usually, though it does happen...
how are your response cards phrased? do people have to write their names in, so they would write exactly who is coming? or do they have to write in a number of people attending?

There is a line for them to write who is coming (M ________________________). So, I was thinking I could fill this in for the families with children -- no confusion that way. Not sure, though.

honestly, i don't think i would fill in the cards for them. there's something sort of presumptious about that... can't quite put my finger on it...
i would rely on the guests to delineate who is coming on the response card. and then maybe have family members make casual calls to those guests with children, to secretly double check?
