I am going to do calligraphy for my invites but just the addresses on the outside envelopes not the inside envelopes. But then I noticed the addresses of the people that I am inviting with a 'Guest' and I realized that I cannot address the envelopes to Mr.XXX and Guest but If I don't then how would that person know I am inviting them with a guest? Any suggestions on how to do this?

Re: Repost from BHB: Envelope Addressing Question
Why can't you address them as Mr. Mark David and Guest???
There's no other way to address them...

I didn't think I was supposed to address them like that. Is that the correct way to do it?

Re: Repost from BHB: Envelope Addressing Question
You can address the outer envelope to just the individual person, then on the inner envelope you can write 'Mr. Bob Smith and Guest'. HTH!!

Re: Repost from BHB: Envelope Addressing Question
I don't have inner envelopes and I am having calligraphy done on the outside (only) envelope.
I am certainly putting Mr. So and So and guest.
I'm not concerned at all! Do it!

I did the same thing as Lisa. I didn't have an inner envelope. For those that were invited with a guest, the evelope read 'Miss Jane Doe and Guest.'

Re: Repost from BHB: Envelope Addressing Question
I am holding the wedding etiquette book right in from of me...this is what is says...'If a single person is invited with an unspecified guest, add 'and guest' to the inner envelope...' this means that on the outer envelope you should indicate the name of the person and on the inner envelope you specify 'GUEST'.
ETA: Specifiy 'and guest' only on those inner envelopes that are addressed to one guest.
