my brother's wedding is in chicago this weekend (that's where we're from), and he and his fh didn't register because they want cash, which is fine by me, but i have no idea what's an appropriate amount to give... please help. he's my brother, so i don't want to be cheap, but i don't even have a gauge for this. every wedding i've been to was while i was in school and there were registries... i feel completely lost without a registry! help!

Tends to be at least $200 per couple for a friend or distant relative, more for a close relative.
I gave my brother $550 2 years ago and my 1st cousin $200 4 years ago if that's any help.
