I am a permanent sub for a 2nd grade at a school. This is my second year working as a permanent sub at this school until a position opens up (long story). I was just wondering if any new teachers (especially elementary) invited other teachers/principal/assistant principal. If so, how many did you invite? I can't invite EVERYONE I've gotten to know at the school, but I don't know what the rules are for this type of situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. P.S. Everyone knows I'm engaged, they announced it over the loudspeaker on the day we got engaged.

Re: Repost from BHB: Inviting Teachers
invite how ever many you feel comfortable inviting.. and dont' worry bout anyone else..
i have invited approx 12 teachers from my building, but i've been there for awhile and know everyone pretty personally.. the teachers in my department have a lunch date every friday and we do happy hour on frid afternoons..i've gone to baby showers, and housewarming partieis etc etc.. so i have a bit of a personal relationship with many of them..
if i was a perm sub, i'd be less pressed to invite teachers..there are some teachers i work with regularly that i am not inviting.. why? i don't particularly like them.. i don't feel obligated to invite anyone i don't like.. regardless of whether i work with them or not..

I think it's up to your discretion. I'm a teacher and I'm just inviting a few people that I'm close to...other teachers and staff that I occasionally hang out with outside of school. I'm not inviting my principal or AP. I think people will understand that you can't invite everyone.

I am going through the same same thing. The difference is I am a permanent teacher that has been there for 6 years. I am VERY close with my entire grade level and math department. I am inviting about 30 people plus a guest, oh and all the administration. They are like my second family. I know other teachers are only inviting a few people. Some people will be offended and some people will understand if they not are invited. Invite only the people you truly want to be there. Make one list and stick with it. Once you starting adding a taking away you confuse yourself. Go with you inital feeling.

I am very close with some of the teachers in my dept - 3 of them are BM. That said there are 30 people in the dept and there is no way I can invite everyone. Luckily since I am getting married over the summer I can kinda fly under the radar.
My friend (also a teacher) invited people from school without dates. They all knew this ahead of time and were sat together. No one gave her a problem about it and they looked like they had a great time.

Re: Repost from BHB: Inviting Teachers
Thank you ladies. I guess I really have to think about it. My date is also mid summer so I figure if no one bothers me about it closer to the date I will invite a few people, pending I get a FULL time position. No sense in committing to these people if I end up not even working at that school.
