repost from BHB- MOH situation (help)

So, I orginially was thinking about having my sister as MOH. The problem is that we aren't that close and she's been completely unhelpful. My mom would be soooo upset if I didn't pick her as MOH.

So, I was thinking of selecting my FSIL as matron of honor and having my sister as maid of honor. My mom thinks that would take away from my sister....ummmmm I DON'T CARE!!! My day- PERIOD!!

Also, is it weird to have a man of honor?? One of my best friend's is a guy, but I wish he were a girl right now because this situation would be soooooo much easier!!!

I would do both as the maid and matron of honor.

I made FH put my best guy friend in the wedding party as one of his groomsman.

go with the sister and FSIL

that way both sides are represented with you

See if your MOH can be another best man for your FSIL

Ultimately it's your day so you should decide, but keep in mind who's paying for the wedding. If it's you then tough cookies what you want goes, if it's your mom then you might have to either bend or come up with a tactful way to tell her no. If you are close to your FSIL (which it seems as though you are if you want her to be your MOH) then point out to your mom that you essentially have 2 sisters and don't feel it's right to leave one out or favor one over the other.

As for your man of honor, I have actually seen it done, so I see noooo problem with it

Me and FH are paying for the wedding. That's what's so aggravating. My mom is soooooo concerned about what other family members are going to say- I DON'T CARE!!! I like your idea- they are both sisters. I'm so frustrating trying to make other people happy. I want to have a MOH who is actually going to help and be interested in this whole process. I'm so sick of this process already. I wish we could just elope and be done with it!!!
I don't understand why my mom is doing this to me!!! I hate having this guilty feeling!
