Repost from BHB: Passport and name question

We are getting married on 2/17 and flying out of the country on 2/19. Obviously, my passport will not have my new last name on it. Is this acceptable? I assume it must be b/c I will not have time to get a new passport in 2 days, but what is the law regarding this issue?

TIA

You have to make all your travel plans with your current name since obviously your documents will be in that name....your name will still legally be your current name I believe until you have filed all of the appropriate paperwork.

Snickles is correct ... this is what EVERYONE does b/c your married name it is not legally your name until you file the paperwork at the s.s. office. You cannot get a passport/license/etc. with your married name until you have applied for your new s.s. card.

All flight and travel documents MUST be in your maiden name.
