I really need to join a gym. I live in O'side. I don't want to join and then not like it so I was looking for some opinions.
What gym do you go to ? Where town is it in? Do you like it? (optional- how much?)

YMCA! YAY!!!!!!!
I pay $47/month - but that is for a family of 4. It is cheaper if you are single or if you are a student.
I love it cause they have pilates, yoga and a pool! They also have all the other stuff too. FH and I used to play basketball there all the time .. talk about burning calories!
I usually do yoga there. I do cardio and strength training at home.
The GSB-YMCA is pretty new and really nice. Check it out to see if you have a YMCA in your neck of the woods!

Nothing beats Sky in RVC, it may be $$ for some, but the classes are so good and ALL THE TIME!!! I love it there, I travel from Cold Spring Harbor just to go there!!!!! You dont even need a trainer, when you join they give you free 1 hr sessions!!!!!!! I just went last night so I am really happy I went and cant wait to go back! 516-678-9400 -Kristen

Just joined LA Fitness, Like it b/c, they have tons of cardio machines, spinning, basketball, racquetball and a pool. Open at 4:30 in the morning. cost $50/month and its in farmingdale, less than 5min from work.

I go to armitraj in Bay Shore. They have classes there and its a great gym I think. I pay ummmm I think 40 a month but Im not 100% sure!!

I go to Ballys. I think it's dirty...I'm not a germ freak or anything but there are no paper towels and/or spray available to wipe down the machines and I think that's gross. I bring my own every time I go. I don't recommend it. I'm annoyed that I'm commited to go there for 2.5 more years. Plus it's constantly a zoo.

Lucille Roberts I have the option to go to any one of their gyms, I've gone to Massapequa, Commack and Plainview. I like it, Plainview's set-up is a little wierd because the machines are in the basement, the Massapequa is the best. I pay 29-30 a month for 2 years. I think it's 25-26 if you only want to go to one location.
ETA: I forgot if you want a 45 min session with a trainer they're $25 each

I go (when I actually go) to Lucille Roberts in Rockville Centre.. I joined in 1997 and put $75 down and pay $11.95 a month unlimited.. it's fantastic.. even if I don't go and still pay that money, I don't care, bc it's so cheap

I go to Bally's and I hate it. It's a meat market. Girls at my gym put on makeup and do their hair to work out. My contract ends in one year and then I'm joining someplace all girls like Lucille

I go to sky athletic in rvc and i love it there..its a little expensive, but it is worth it!

I go to Brooklyn Sports Club in Starret City Brooklyn. I really like it (I really gotta get a good schedule going!) its kind of pricey though - i think it was $685 for the year
