I went to Jamaica a few months back and the travel agent wouldn't book us or anybody for that matter on AJ b/c he said they are in the process of going under at anytime, so who knows what is going to happen.

flying air jamaica for my HM next year...never heard this. they are operated by delta---so maybe that is why they were thinking that, when delta was in big trouble before?

Horrible! It was 2 years ago.

We were on line to check in for over an hour, going from NY to Antigua. Because we did not get to the check in desk before the 2 hour cutoff, we were not allowed to check our luggage (we were at check in with over an hour to spare!). They told us that we could have DH's mom take our luggage to freight and it would be brought to Antigua later that day, no charge. So, DH and I get on flight with just carry ons. His mom goes over to freight and gets a different story. She was told that the best they can do is get our luggage to us in 5 days, for a charge of $2,000. At this point we were already on our way. Never got our luggage, AIr Jamaica could care less. Also, some problems with service on the flight, and the interior of the planes were dirty.

Then to top it all off, on the way home, as people checking in were on line, some guy had more than 2 carry ons. The Air Jamaica check in person told him he could only take 2. RIght in front of the AIr Jamaica employees, he announced to everyone that he would pay someone to check in his third bag. Someone volunteered. The AIr Jamaica employees saw the exchange of money, and still let this other person check the bag. Weird and scary. I will never forget that.

I hope to go to Antigua again. It was great. I would take American Airlines next time.
