Repost from Honeymoon- DR and other islands!

I like the 'feeling' of Dominican Repulbic that it is very carribean feeling, meaning I like the low rise buildings and very nice and modern resorts but not vegas style either. Although many islands are gorgeous, I want that real island feeling. I know with that sometimes comes not the safest places but I am a more of a beach and party at the resort type a girl. Im thinking Jamaica...am I along the right lines or what else can anyone suggest? PLEASSEEE HELP!!

Bermuda is gorgeous and lots to do.

Turks and caicos has nice beaches, they were gorgeous actually but i felt there was not alot to do. If you want a place where you lay on the beach all day and just relax then it would be good.

Bahamas wasnt bad either, the beaches are nice and there are activities. Its safe too, i went outside the resort to a local bar and it was perfectly fine.

How about aruba, or St. Thomas

we love DR. We stay every year at the paradisus. Great restuarants, nightlife, gambling and very safe. We also have taken excursions through towns, etc.

Jamaica was ok. I don't think the island itself was as beautiful nor the beaches and not as safe.

I also loved Aruba and Mexico.

Puerto Rico is very beautiful also when i went on vacation awhile back i stayed at the Condado Plaza and it was excellent very close to Old San Juan(tons of shopping!) a 75 cent bus ride away . They also remodeled the entire hotel so from the online pictures it looks very sleek and modern. Also tons of activities to do.
