repost from NWR - very down/depressed....

The last few weeks, I've been feeling very down/depressed. On top of complications with my pregnancy, I've had multiple issues at work (nothing out of the norm, I'm just feeling taken advantage of, under-appreciated and just sick of the b.s. and idiot clients). I have no motivation there to do well or even to do my job because I feel like all I get is $hit on. I'm bigtime stressing about our financial situation, considering the baby ISN'T here and we are practically drowning as-is. I'm still working two jobs and it never seems enough. Someone always has their hand out for one thing or another.

My shower has me stressed because hubby made a big stink about inviting his family and everyone thus far from his side has said no. I guess it was too much to expect his mother to rise to the occasion and show some support (not for me, but for the baby) but alas, no. I guess I shouldn't complain but it really does bother me, that she can't even make the effort for something so important. Which dominoes to the actual birth - how am I supposed to be cordial to this woman?!?

My weight is out of control. I've always had a problem with it, but it's beyond description and all I did was cry last night while going through pictures of myself before I was married. I was no Vogue model then, but what have I turned into?!?

I really believe I'm in a depression. I'm dwelling on all the negative things from the past and re-living all the horrible moments from yesteryear. Is there such a thing as pre post-pardom? Is it just hormones that are affecting me? All I want to do is sleep/cry
Not looking for a pity party, just some honest answers about what could be going on with me. Chemical imbalance???

Shamee - sounds like all the stess piling on you is getting to you I'd definately talk to your doctor, and try to find some time to pamper yourself if you can. Wish I could offer better advice...

I am so sorry you are feeling this way! I would definately express these feelings to your OB. Don't let the outlaws get you down! They are missing out on being a part of the most wonderful part of there sons life! You only have your first child ONCE! Every child is special but the first child .......... is amazing! Who needs them at your shower? It is totally their loss and I would not dwell on it at all.

You are going to be a great mom!

I think that in light of all the things you are dealing with you are perfectly normal.
I dont want to say that it's hormonal, it's human. Your a woman carrying a human life, dealing with family issues and financial pressures, not to mention how 'attractive' pregancy makes the average woman feel.
It is a tremendous lot to take on.

I personally think that the whole 'this is the happiest time in my life' thing is a bit much. Yes there are women who are overcome with hapiness at this point But I think there are far more of them who feel as you do then the other way around.

If you feel comfortable talking to your OB then do it. Do what you need to to get through this, but know that.........
You are alot stronger than you have even begun to realize

You are probably right that it is hormonal. Pregnancy can be stressful, especially when you are working two jobs. You do not need the extra added stress of family issues. Can your DH talk with your MIL? I would not worry about who is at the shower and try to enjoy the day with those who really want to be there. If you think this stress is not just hormonal then please tell your dr. I am afraid that the stress of the baby along with post partum depression (many women experience at least a little of this )could put you in even more of a slump after you give birth. Be sure you at least mention it at your next appt. I wish you luck with the pregnancy issues you mentioned.

SHaron, with all the preggo hormones and all that youre juggling with work and home, its totally normal that you are feeling overwhelmed.
Try not to dwell on everything all at once, ignore those that dont really MATTER in your life anyway (those family members ) and try to focus on the positive.
I know its easier said than done, and we ALL go through times of feeling blue. But lets try to help eachother up.

Try to think about the things you'll do with the baby. What his/her room will look like. Try to just think about little more simple things, and dont get stressed about things that really wont affect your true happiness (Those idiots at work)
I think every preggo woman thinks about weight issues a few times here and there. Dont let it get to you now. Enjoy your pregnancy, dont be hard on yourself.
I made a goal for myself to start working out and start WW or some type of eating plan to help myself lose weight. not just preggo weight, but even after-preggo weight. Just set a goal for yourself for AFTER the baby, and know that you will slowly but surely get to it.

Sending you LOTS of hugs

Thank you guys so much. Anna, I have an appointment tonight with Dr. Murphy, so I'm going to ask/tell her what is going on and what can be done. I went to the gym with Michelle last night and it did help (temporarily) but I still feel blue today

Hopefully she'll be able to give me some answers.

Happy Anniversary gym buddy

You know I am always here!!!

Talk to Dr. Murphy, maybe it is a combination of stress and hormones, but you need to be good to yourself. SCREW your MIL, you will have alot of people at your shower that care about you and your baby

Happy Anniversary!!!

Aw, Shamee, I'm sorry you feel so down. I also think it's mostly hormonal and when you add all the unnecessary stress, it just brings you down. I agree with Anna and you shouldn't let his family get to you -- enjoy your baby!!! Nobody should ever ruin that for you. I know it bothers you that they aren't coming to your shower, but you know what, they are the losers in this whole thing, because they will be missing out on a gorgeous baby!!

Don't worry about the weight thing either. I'm still crying over the weight thing. You can't let that stress you out right now either.

I sorry Shamee,,. it very well can be pre post parteum depression. When I was preg, I had quigte a few days like you described.

When at work, try to smile and keep themuttering to under your breathe. Now is not the time to rock the boat there. and who knows, maybe in the end, they will be nicer to you regarding maternity leave. just think soon you will not need to be there on a daily basis cuz you will be home with a NEW BABY.

sorry regaridng in the in laws. I have had a handful with my own relatives...who seem to think you need an airline ticket to travel to Long Beach from NJ. haven't come to see me since BEFORE rob and I were dating...we are talking 1995 now!! its almost 10 years!!

heads up girl- let a friend take you our for a walk, see a movie or get a manicure.
time for friends to circle you with their love

aw I feel for you I really do. i know what it's like when it all starts to feel like a brick wall right in front of you. It sounds like a depression is setting in, and it could be hormones, nerves, a million things.

Take a load of Shamee. You are expecting a baby and cannot expect yourself to behave or feel the way you remember from before. The weight will find it's way off ,and there is no better remedy thana little one to walk in the stroller every day!

When you add in the in-laws and the work situation, it's just a recipe for 'I want to go to bed and never get out'. Sounds like you need some time to yourself. Why don't you take a day off and do something productive just for you - maybe go to the bookstore and buy a nicejournal to start when the baby comes, take a short walk, maybe just sit outside and put your face in the sun.

Feel better.

Shamee, I just want to add my support and give you lots of hugs! Remember money will always come in the weirdest ways and at the strangest times. Right now, you must concentrate on the most important thing in your life, your child. This should bring you up right away. I know it's hard, but I'm sure once you have your little bambino in your arms everything else will fade into the background. Remember nothing else matters but YOU, the baby and your family with your DH...

Re: repost from NWR - very down/depressed....

Thanks again everyone. I feel a little better today (well, probably because it's Friday ) but mostly because the doctor said I was out of the woods last night with one of my two complications (phhhwwhhh!!). They also said my weight was progressing normally and that I need to RELAX about it. Whenever I see my doctor, she always makes me feel so much better. I told her what was going on and she said it was perfectly normal but that I have to watch the stresses in my life because they could lead to unnecessary complications. 12 more weeks, I can't even believe it.

In-laws are always going to be a stress, that will never go away. At least MIL called my mother last night to rsvp to the shower (and yes, she's coming ). My mother said she actually felt bad for the woman on the phone because you could tell she was completely nervous. That made me feel a little better that she wasn't coming off as a biotch.

The money thing, well reality says we all have debt, we'll probably always have debt. As long as we can keep the roof over our head, I shouldn't complain for more. And more importantly, if the baby is healthy, NOTHING matters above that.

I found out last night that my five year old niece may have a mild to serious heart condition. She's going for testing today and we won't know until later if it will require surgery. Just thinking that something might be wrong with that precious angel put everything into perspective for me.

I'm glad to hear you're feeling better and that one of your complications is gone.

Hugs and prayers for your niece.
