Repost from Slim Down NWR: Gold's Gym

Iam really wanting to join a gym cause I find that I can motivate myself to go to classes at the gym (more than I can motivate myself to go running, etc). Well Gold's Gym is literally around the corner from my house, so I was thinking of joining.

Anyone know if the classes are any good? I used to go to Lucille back in HS, and I was always that girl who would turn the wrong way in step class and could never figure out the routine haha. So I need a class that works my muscles but is easy to follow :)

Any opinions on Golds?

Sorry, I don't know anything about gyms; I'm also a highly unmotivated person. BUT I just learned from someone on here that if you have IO cable and you go to channel 168 you can select Personal Trainer and there's a bunch of quick workouts you can do. I did one the other night for arms and legs and it was pretty good! It's in your own living room, so it doesn't matter if you step the wrong way--just watch out for the coffee table!!

I used to be a member there. They were a good gym...I used to take Pilates there. The class was pretty good. The only problem I had was that they were really expensive. AND I had gotten hurt and I had a month-to-month contract (meaning that I could stop anytime and was not bound to be there a for a set amount of time), when I told them I wanted to quit they wanted me to give them 3 more months of payments before they would let me quit even though there was no way I could use it. Every time I would try to speak w/ someone on the phone they would hang up on me. Finally I had go in and tape record a meeting with a manager to finally get out. Crazy, I know...but it's the TRUTH. Just be careful and get everything they tell you in writing.

That is SO cool - unfortunately I don't have IO cable.

Thanks for all your Gold's Opinions. The gold's gym near me is offering a free 14 day trial now - so maybe I will try that!
Really I wish I could motivate myself to just go running cause that is a whole lot cheaper than joining a gym

I go to synergy in Baldwin...It is really good and they have circut training.
Also, try a simple class if the others get too complicated...like a spin class is a great workout and all you do is welll spin LOL
I am good at kickboxing but step is tough but if you go to a beginer class you can learn some of the moves and stay in the back. I stayed in the back for the first 3 weeks and finally got the routine. Then felt more confident. If you have money, you could hire a trainer. Something to think about.
Good luck!
