Repost from TTC Board...

Ok, here goes, I remember all the lectures when growing up and in high school that you CAN get pregnant while you have your period - my question is ovulation is 2 weeks after your period - so CAN you get pregnant if you are not ovulating and anytime of the month? Thanks all !

From all I know and all Ive read the chances of you getting pregnant while you have your period are so slim it aint even funny. You MUST ovulate and have an egg that is mature and 95% of the time floating down your tube for you to get pregnant.

Your body GENERALLY releases an egg or 2 a month USUALLY at the same time, around 14 days after the start of your AF. Its all about hormone build ups in your body. When you have AF your hormones are starting back to the egg release build up, when you ovulate the egg gets released and THAT is the time you can get pregnant.

I do have one friend who got PG the day AFTER her period ended, but that could make some sense - if her period lasts a week or so, and she ovulated on day 8. But I HIGHLY doubt you can get pregnant in the first few days - it's just biologically impossible.
