i am stressing out now. i have to guarentee 90 at the hall but i want the room to look full( it holds 130 max) . I would like to have 110. how many ppl do i need to invite? i sent out std info and quite a few oot told me they wouldn't be coming so now im nervous. please help.

that's the figure we got from all of the catering halls too when talking to them.

Ditto above on 20% 'no' but take into consideration if you have a lot of OOT guests. Then the rate could be higher.

we're having about the same number of people (between 110-130) - i sent out STDs and so far no one said NO!
it's a manageable crowd and I'm sure most of them you know very well enough to know if they're a yes or a no -- maybe call to get a feel for their response
i also created a list of all our guests with A and B lists which tell me exactly how many I have so far (in excel), so if I know someone from the A-list will not be able to make it, I have those in the B list to replace.

invited 155 and ended up with 112. (however, it was a holiday weekend and most OOTers didn't travel.)

I invited about 278 people. So far I have yeses from about 100 and only 10 nos. Response date is 19th but I think we are going to have less than the average 20% saying no.

You will get a 20% no rate unless you send STD's so figure if 10% say no from the people you sent STD's to, then invite over that 20% more than you want. Those that were not sent STD's you should get a 20% no rate from. Does that make sense?

i know u can't imagine anyone saying no to ur wedding(atleast we felt that way lol) but you will ALWAYS get no's...sometimes they say if u get STD's out early u have a more chance of 'yes''s but who knows. ANYWAYS, people will say no...and remember - no's add up. getting only 10response cards back will add up to 20(give or take with guests and stuff). I say if u want the room to look full(and not overcrowded and uncomfortable) then go over ur max...maybe by 15-20 people....also, try creating a 'B list'. If u get early 'no' responses, have invites on hand to mail out to people u'd like to have there. Hope this helps??? In the end we actually fell 2 people below our minimum....so i invited some of the younger girls i worked with last minute & they were thrilled anyways, good luck! hope it all works out. (also, i wouldn't just invite people 'cause u want the room full. Invite them 'cause u want them to share ur day with u. imo i'd rather the room be a tad less crowded with close family & friends, then way overcrowded with people i barely know) good luck!

If the guests are mostly family and very close friends, you can probably expect most of them to say yes. but on average I've heard that 15-20% will decline, and even on the day of up to 10% don't show up (due to illness, unforseen circumstances, etc). invite 135 to start off, and then create a B-List of people that you can invite if you start to fall below the numbers you need.

WE invited 170 and got 120. It all depends on people.
