Vinny used to have a Compac- he hated it.

He then had a HP which he loved and it always worked great. He even sold it to someone after a while and made money on it.

We then got a Dell (but it's not a laptop)... I like the Dell, it works really good... The comp I have at work is a Dell too.

If you are not looking to go for your lungs then I would get a Dell-- but, from my experience with HP's- I love them! I was looking into them recently too and the salesman at the store told me GREAT things about them.

NOT COMPAQ. Had a very bad experience with them. Also, it's important to look at the name of the processor - you'll have a lot more trouble with Intel Celeron than you will with Pentium, but Celeron is like half the price (for good reason).

I was sick of my computer (a Dell, a Pentium, really good computer) freezing all the time, so I bought a Mac when I got a laptop. It's frozen like twice since I got it 16 months ago. My Dell would freeze 8 or 9 times a week. If you have the money, I'd suggest a Mac. I'd never used one before I bought this one last year, and it took about a day before I was comfortable with the differences, that's all. It's hard for me to go back and work on PCs now.
