Re: Repost: Officiant Invite?
I'm very good friends with the priest who is marrying us, and he has already said he will come to our reception.
Through him, I've met many other priests and they have said that they mostly either don't go or just show up for the cocktail hour.
So, I think if you're not close with your officiant, he won't be insulted if you don't invite him. Believe me, priests get invited to tons of events!

Re: Repost: Officiant Invite?
Nope. They are a vendor.
ETA: I am assuming you mean the officiant that would be coming to your RH to marry you? If you are getting married at a church and want the priest/pastor to come to the reception, then I guess yes, you'd invite them.

Re: Repost: Officiant Invite?
I invited both of mine. Our deacon came.
I just felt like it was the right thing to do. We met with both officiants several times during our engagement.

if you are having a religious wedding, proper etiquette dictates that you invite the priest, deacon, rabbi, etc. to the reception. unless they're close with you personally, many decline...otherwise they would be at a wedding msot weekends of the year! however, you should still invite..... our priest was a friend, so of course he came.
if you are getting married by someone like a justice of the peace or one of those officiants that you pay, no, i don't think you need to invite.

Proper etiquette is that the officiant should be invited, regardless of whether s/he is a member of the clergy or whether or not the wedding takes place in a house of religion.

This is correct, we invited him but he chose to decline

Re: Repost: Officiant Invite?
Do they need to be invited with a guest? I'm sending her an invite tomorrow that includes 'and guest', but I'm just curious about the expectation/etiquette.
