Repost: Rehearsal dinner/pre Party..advice and suggestions

So, Im considering doing a rehearsal dinner and 'pre-party' for a few reasons. #1, we are having a Sunday wedding so an after-party, even something informal like at the hotel is out of the question, #2, Im not close with my family and so even if I did have a Saturday night wedding and had an after party, they would want to be there and in all honesty, I want to just let go and relax with our friends and I wont be able to do this with them there.

Soo, we are considering a rehearsal dinner/pre party the Friday before the wedding. Even though my family would actually be at the rehearsal, they would understand that they wouldnt be coming out to a club/lounge type thing with the younger crowd. Ok, so we would like to have the dinner and then have an open bar for about 2 hours and a place with a dj and has dancing. I need your advice first on what you think of this idea and secondly, on suggestions for places that might offer a deal for us to pay a certain amount pp to have the open bar. This would be for our bridal party, us and their dates. This will be 20 people and between dinner and the open bar, we would like to stay at $100 or UNDER per person. Do you think this is doable?

I was thinking along the lines of Cavo, in Astoria since we could eat dinner first. (I havent checked if they would set up something for me in regards to an open bar)

Looking in Nassau, Queens, Manhattan

PS. i guess some might think is rude toward the parents but again, we are not close and it is an mutually understood thing so there really wouldnt be an issue

TIA!

As far as the idea itself, I think it's fine. I think it's fine to want to party with the BP and if you and your family are mutually not close, then I don't see the problem.

As far as a place to have it... I'm a little stumped. What kind of vibe do you want? Do you nesacarily want a big crowd at a club thing? Because if you're trying to keep it at that price, maybe you could check out a local pub or something more lax or something.

Or why not go to Churchills or Croxley Ales in RVC for dinner, see if you can work out an open bar there, and then head over to Black Thorn or Kaseys (KCs?) for some dancing?

The Milleridge Inn has several rooms in the restaurant part (not the cottage)-- When we were looking for places they told us they could accomadate a room for a DJ.
