Crashing...

I'm at a point where I'm thinking I may not meet my minimum and I'd like to send invitations to some acqaintances. Obviously these people will know that they weren't on my first list. I'm thinking maybe I should put a note in the invitation or something? Should I call ahead? How have others handled this?

I don't have advice but have you tried talking to some of your current guest list that werent invited with a guest? Perhaps you can tell them they are allowed to bring a date?

If you already exhausted that option, I would call the B list and say we actually have extra room and would like to know if you would like to attend the wedding.

OR

You can ask for seat fillers on your wedding board as a last resort!

That sounds reasonable. I just want to avoid hurt feelings.

I actually included a lot of my B list in my original send out since I had a good deal of flexibility between my minimum and my hall's capacity. They make up the entirety of my non-responder list (7 invitations). Now, 3 days before the wedding, I don't have time to contact them all, and I am sort of disinclined to contact them anyway. I think they were sort of undecided about it, then went on their vacations or just forgot or whatever. Don't invite people unless you really want them at your wedding would be my advice. They also present challenges when you're making up your tables.

I am having the same problem. I did not make a B list. I invited around 200 people with my minimum being 175 because all the people I did invite knew about my wedding for over 2 years now and I knew were basically coming and who wasn't coming. Now with a little over a month left til the wedding I am getting a lot more 'nos' then I was expecting. I am afraid I wont' make the 175 but I only have 2.5 weeks until my RSVP date and I don't want people to know they were on the second list. I don't even know who I would invite to make a second list?

I ended up inviting some friends of friends. They didn't expect to be invited anyway. So, the late invitation was still welcome.

I often wonder how the B list would work. A friend told me that for every 'no' you get you should mail out a 'B listers' invite aright away.
