Ladies! I'm in need of your help before I say screw everything!! LOL I'm filling out the final form for the invitiatons so FH can bring it to work tomorrow. Soo... The wording on the invitations are killing me. I would rather have the invite say 'the parents' rather then having his parents name and my mom's name. I mean, WE are the ones paying for most of the wedding...so we'll STILL include them with 'parents' but will it be considered rude to them???
Also, this is my MAJOR problem... can I even DO 'parents' since my Father passed away? It would be my Mom and FH parents. Can I still do 'parents' or is that just wrong...? AUGH!
Also, if I DO include the names... how do I do it...? FH has the same exact name as his Father...so it'll be weird...like this: Mrs Joan Smith and Mr. & Mrs. Robert Bryan Joanes present their children Jane Lynn and Robert Bryan..... Do I put JR there...?? Just sounds funny.
PLEASE HELP!!

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
honestly, if i were one of the parent I would be a little offended if my name wasn't on the invitation regardless if I was paying or not. Please dont take offense, but i just think thats its a matter of honoring the people that raised you
In terms of the same names with FH and FFIL i dont think its weird, maybe you could add Sr. to his father's name....
Hope this helps, good luck!!

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
Def. take a deep breath and calm down for a sec It sounds like these invites are driving you crazy lol.... dont worry... so are mine......Ok... lets see... my Fh and I also have this problem... we are paying for the WHOLE wedding ourselves... with our parents helping very little. We want it to be together with our parents... but when we said something to his mom, you could tell she kind of got offended. My parents wouldn't care less, b/c they dont take things peronsally like that..but she does. FH said to do whatever we want still and do not want our parents to be written first on our invites. We are going to keep it either together with their parents or our parents will be listed underneath us. If you didnt want to write their names, you could write together with their parents. That would be fine still.

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
We had the same problem. We are paying for it mostly ourselves but my parents did contribute a little. I wanted to honor both of our parents. I just ordered my invitations online the other day and I played with the wording for about an hour, trying to fit both of our parents' names. However, I could not do it without having to pay extra for each invitation. Since we are paying for the wedding ourselves, we are on a tight budget and we really have to start cutting corners, so I just put:
Together with our parents
my name
his name
etc,
I told my parents how I did it and my mom was fine with it but my dad seemed a little offended. I kind of wish I talked to them before ordering, but there really wasn't a way around it anyway. Good luck!

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
I understand how you feel...I stressed about it for a lil while too and my situation gets even more complicated b/c we both have step parents (I would acknowledge my stepfather but FH would not want to acknowledge his stepmother)
In the end I decided to just use 'Together with their parents' It simplified things and the invite doesn't look too wordy. If it offends someone, oh well...if its something that really upsets them, they really need to get their priorities in check.

We had a sticky situation because both our parents are divorced.. our mothers ONLY helped us a little for the wedding..oru dads gave us nothing...but we felt like we couldn't just put our mothers on the invite... soooo..... we just put our names on the invite, no parents... our mothers are just fine with it...

Same--we're doing together with our families...my dad is deceased, FH's mom is remarried as is his dad...its just too dicey.

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
Here is how we handled it...
Esquirebride, daughter of J and C, and FH, son of S and K, invite you to....
that way everyone gets their name on the invite but it is clear that you and FH are the ones doing to inviting.

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
I'm paying for our wedding but I am listing it as: My parents and His parents request the honor of your presence at the marraige of their children Us
What does it matter who paid for what or that people know who paid for what? It's a matter of honoring those who gave you life. Whether they contribute a penny or not...they brought us to this point. Life is short and I wont get caught up in who pays for what, who is inviting how many people ect. Not worth it.
The matter of your Dad being deceased is a sticky one, I would list his name because you are his daughter, just figure out the correct wording.

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
I agree.. i think that saying parents isn't a issue even though it's just your mom. I do also agree though that writting their names individually will be the respectful thing to do, regardless of whose paying.
I think that adding Sr. to his father's name and Jr to ur FH's name will work well.
but yes.. take a nice deep breath, have a nice sip of wine and relax. Everything will work itself out.

You could do:
The pleasure of your company is requested at the marriage ceremony of
John Smith Son of Jack and Jill Smith
and
Mary Brown Daughter of Tom and Susie Brown

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
For my sister's wedding I know that my mom felt offended that my sister was just going to say 'the parents' rather than names...
so she ended up putting 3 sets of parents....her husbands and my mom/stepfather and my dad/stepmother....it was long but it made everyone happy!

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
Thanks for all of your help ladies. I spoke to my Mom and FHs paretns...they are all fine with just 'Paretns' b/c then it just gets too wordy. They all told me to stick to the elegence of the affair... They are going to still be included in the programs, and the ceremony, so after the fact, the invitations are not going to be a big deal at all. I put my name and FHs name with their paretns request your houour blah blah blah. I know it's not about who is paying for what... but I know that there is some ettiquite for it. I was NOT basing anything on who was paying... also, I didn't want to include our middle names... soo... I think what I picked works out just fine. Also, my Mom was trying to be difficult as well b/c she wanted ONLY her name b/c FHs parents aren't that involved at all...OR she said she wanted her name presenting my name to FH...And, I just didn't like the sound of that...and that was sorta leaving FHs paretns out all in all. I do'nt want to offend anyone, so I think paretns works out just fine. I am saving all the important details to the ceremony. Thank you again ladies for all of your help!!

Re: Repost..please HELP...Invitiations!!!
def go with the 'together with their families' option, I have a similar nightmare of everyone paying, step-parents, and my FH's father passed away years ago.
I think the 'together with their families' sounds nicer anyway since it really is the joining of families
