Does someone know a reputable jeweler they can recommend.
My brother is looking to buy an engagement ring for his girlfriend. He'd like a princess cut at least 1 carat with diamonds (not baguettes)along the band but has been told that it can not de done in a size 5.
Does this sound right?
Thanks

Jewelry by Steven in Long Beach. He has been my sister's in-law's jeweler for over 20 years and we are using him for our wedding bands. He is incredible to work with and he knows his stuff. He will be able to be truthful about what can and can't be done. His number is 516-897-0700.

Try Jonathan from good old gold. The man is legendary in the diamond business and he really knows his stuff. I went there with my fiance and he spent more than an hour teaching us about diamonds. He said he didnt care if we didnt purchase a diamond from him, but that at least we had the knowledge to make an educated purchase. He does extensive testing on diamonds on top of the certification it comes with. Check out his website

Thank you all. Wow, Diva that site is great. I saw one ring that is exactly what he is looking for.

Re: Reputable Jeweler recommendation needed
My ring was custom made by our family jeweler, who is absolutely wonderful. My family's been dealing with him for about 15 years, both my brothers bought e-rings from him and so did FH. He has a shop in Nassau County but we deal w/ him from his home in Lake Grove...FM me if you want his info.

we've had a good experience with Howard and Ted from The Diamond Vault in Manhattan. 212-888-1234. FH got the recommendation from a buddy at work, and we actually used them again after the engagement ring, for our wedding bands...

Re: Reputable Jeweler recommendation needed
My MOH used Elsa's for her e-ring and the platinum setting has already cracked. I would not recommend them.
Try Maddaloni in Huntington.

Re: Reputable Jeweler recommendation needed
I can certainly give you my jewlers info. I got my fiancee 1 karat, emerald cut on a platinum band. She's a size 5 1/2. You can certainly ask. Just give him the specifics and he'll give you answer. He deals with alot of the local sports teams and some of the cast of the Sopranos and other celebs. He does business on a recommendation only. His wife does the settings down the block . They are both on Bowery.
Feel free to FM, email me anytime.
Best Wishes,
Thomas

Re: Reputable Jeweler recommendation needed
My fiance knew NOTHING about diamonds and Elsa spent so much time with him and educated him. I get so many compliments on my ring. In fact...my friend who is getting married in October of this year dropped her ring off to match the wedding band she picked out and she picked it up and it suddenly looks EXACTLY LIKE MINE!!! She changed her engagement ring! Oh well...I HAD IT FIRST!

Re: Reputable Jeweler recommendation needed
That sounds weird... I don't see why not. My cousin's e-ring is a size 5, I think (I tried it on for size for myself) and it is a princess cut with two diamonds on the size.
FFIL's cousin is a jeweler in the diamond district. He is an expert on diamonds too. If you live or work in the city and would like more info I can get you his number. FM me!
