Research question

Research question

Would you pay someone to come into your home to organize/toss old stuff/de-clutter whatever? Sort of like that show on TLC- I think it's called 'Clean Sweep'? And how much would you be willing to shell out?

Thanks for your help.

Re: Research question

I think you just need an unbiased third party to mediate and help you recognize that you don't need to keep everything.

If you were to pay for someone to do that, I think it would probably be around $100 and hour. (I just pulled that number out of my hat )

For $100/hour...I'll do it!

I have spent the better part of my life trying to get organized and stop being a slob! I'd definitely pay someone to help me declutter.

And $100/hour sounds reasonable for such a task.

Re: Research question

I wouldn't only because I LOVE organizing! We have one closet in our office that hubby calls the 'Super Closet' because it is so organized! People at work make jokes about how organized my room is! I think a person who needs it should go for it. It makes such a difference in your mind once something is organized and you just have to follow a system (which has to be maintained)!

I wish I had the problem of being 'too organized' to the point where people made fun of me over it. I am a notorious slob! I have always had a really hard time organizing.

Any tips?

No, I wouldn't. I am a bit of a pack-rat... I know there are things I shouldn't keep but I do for sentimental reasons. Like if someone tried to throw out an old sweatshirt that I had from college even though I don't wear it anymore I would FLIP out! 'Get the F*^# off my stuff!!!!'

Re: Research question

I would say that learning what to throw away and what to keep is essential. You have to set guidelines for this and it isn't always easy. Everything also needs a 'home'. There has to be a place where everything goes and it should not sit out unless it is in regular use. I sometimes get the urge to not put things away where they should be but then I remind myself of how this just builds until it gets almost unmanagable.

Also, when something that isn't regular comes up, a system has to be set up and followed right away. Like for all the paperwork that comes in for income taxes...I set up folders for DH, myself and joint papers. Once something comes in, it gets filed.

That's just a couple things but for me it has to be systems with consistency throughout work and home. GOOD LUCK! Once I am organized I feel a weight lifted and I can think clearer!

I am the same

I have notes that my best friend and I passed to each other in HS still saved. And its silly stuff like this teacher is so boring.

But I keep them in a shoe box in the closet.

I could really use someone to just send me away for the day and do a good sweep through. If I hadn't seen it in years, I probably wont even notice its gone

Re: Research question

I would definitely hire someone to help me do that. I have been cleaning/organizing all day and haven't gotten anywhere!

But with that being said, $100/hour is WAY TOO MUCH!!! I would be willing to pay about $20-25 per hour.

absolutely~ as long as they promised not to throw anything away I am such a pack rat. I think I will 'need this someday' with EVERYTHING!!! I would def. pay 100 and hour!

Re: Research question

I would definately pay someone to do this! at work I am so organized, but at home that's another story. I get to lazy when I am home so I would be willing to pay somone to do it and then I would maintine it. Does anybody know someone that does this and what it costs?

You ladies get me excited about the prospect of just totally reorganizing a place! It's like a blank canvas to me! It's sick but I get a little rush from doing it! Thank goodness I have a DH that follows my systems.

Do you need my address??

I am not too bad with saving things but I stink at organizing. That's where I need the help.
