I think these letters are supposed to be short and sweet. (If anyone knows otherwise, please correct me if I'm wrong.) So, I'd keep it to a brief announcement of your news, the date you'd like to be your last day, and -- if you can keep it upbeat -- a brief explanation of your decision. This last part should only be done if you can put a positive or neutral spin on it -- 'An opportunity came up closer to my home' or similar. Also end the letter on a upbeat note -- thank your employers for the great experience you had teaching for their district.
Good luck!

Re: resigning
To Whoever I find it necessary to inform you that I must resign from my current position as a _____, effective (date). I have been offered an opportunity to further my career. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to teach and learn at (school name)
Or something like that.

Re: resigning
Don't feel compelled to give a reason - it should not be required. It's not their business.
