Response card date help

Response card date help

Our wedding is August 21. What date should we put on our response cards? We need to give the caterers the number 2 weeks beforehand, but should we ask for replies earlier than that?

We are getting married the same date! I am actually doing July 7, I believe or even July 1, which is a bit early. But I'm going to be very busy with work July and August and want to give me/FH/our parents enough time to do table seatings/escort cards, without the stress. I figure most people know whether they are going to a wedding when they get the invite, so why the wait? Just get the invites out earlier by June 1. I believe a month response, is pretty much the norm.

I would suggest doing 6 weeks before your actual wedding date, or 4 weeks before you need to give your final number.

Tracking down RSVPs can become tedious and frustrating, so the more time you have the better.

We did almost 6 weeks before our wedding date and I was still missing 50 responses by the time our date came and passed. About 2 weeks later, I still needed another 20 and that's when I started calling. People are notoriously bad about sending in RSVP cards.
