I honestly never know and still don't know what I'm supposed to do. I usually put a number but sometimes I put a check.
Hope this helps you a little!

Re: Response card question
I just wonder is it customary to put the line with number. I ask because if it's addressed to a single person or a couple. What if 1 of the couple can't go, or what if the single (invited without a guest) takes it upon them selves to bring a guest?

Re: Response card question
I decided that when I do my response card they will sort of be like this:
Mr. & Mrs. Smith ____ attending ____ not attending
I am not putting number attending because I don't want to invite Mr and Mrs Smith and if they can fill in how many are attending, they might think they can bring their kids or something. I don't know if that is okay or not, but I am worried about people thinking that they can bring the kids.

Re: Response card question
Mine was the following:
Please reply by_____________ We have reserved ______ seats in your honor
Will attend_____ Will not attend ______
Number attending_______
My main reasoning: I wanted to make clear to people how many were invited and also make sure the number attending was also clear.

This is perfect. I JUST ordered mine and didn't include the number attending at the end, but I might add it.

Re: Response card question
Honestly - no matter how you lay it out, you'll get people filling it out differently. We went with a blank line (no M at front - I always thought that looked strage - but we'll probably get no names on it - LOL), and then the attending, not attending below it.
Please respond by....

Re: Response card question
I guess that is a good point, each person will interpret it differently.

You can see people here posting all the time about this topic.
That's the reason why I told them how many seat were reserved for them.

Re: Response card question
If you do use the number line I would avoid saying number of guests attending if you are inviting a lot of singles with guests...maybe my people are not smart or something they got seriously confused...some people did it right but I also had a 1 (which was intended to mean the guest so the total would be 2 but I took to mean the invited with no guest until I was told differently in converstation), a +1 (which at least was clear but was not the way I intended), a 0 (with a note on the bottom that said 'I will be attending by myself')...to avoid confusion, I would either put number of persons or just number attending...that's just my opinion though...
