Response Card Wording- Help me please!!!!

Response Card Wording- Help me please!!!!

I’m pretty sure this question has been posed before but I can’t find the thread. I am having major issues with the wording on our response cards. Is there a tasteful way of writing the number of guests you are inviting? We want a small wedding and are paying for it ourselves. I know that there are tacky people who would use the guest attending line as they wish and go overboard.

I know I saw something like :

The favor of your response is requested

“Three ( or whatever #) seats have been reserved in your honor.
____Accepts with pleasure
____Declines with regrets
____Number of Guests attending

I didn’t think this was so bad. Opinions? Advice? This is driving me nuts. I don’t want to be offensive but need to be realistic. Please be honest with your opinions- I can take it.

Well, really, you don't need to say how many 'seats have been reserved' because only the people whose names are on the envelope have actually been invited. Like, if you address the invite to Mr. and Mrs. John Smith, then 2 people have been invited, and you have 2 seats for them. It's understood. They can't just decide to bring little baby Suzy, because you haven't addressed the envelope to 'Mr. and Mrs. John Smith and Family.'

You told us to be honest, so I hope you don't mind my saying - the line 'Three seats have been reserved in your honour' seems kind of uncouth, and I wouldn't use it if I were you.

I think the above is just fine. I don't know if I would use the # of guests attending line because you have already said that there was a specific # of seats reserved. If you leave that line in I think you are still giving them room to add a person. I know many brides have said Mr. & Mrs. Smith on the envelope and then they decide to bring thier 2 kids. Yes, leave out the last line and I think it would be perfect.

Thanks for the responses. trust me no offense was taken. The only issue with not putting the number is that unfortunately I am dealing with some people who take the guests attending line as an open invitation to invite whoever they want. I know this will happen. trust it will happen even if I put the number.lol. The reason why I left the last line was for situations like a family of five where only two are attending. Thanks again for the input.

i think it's a good idea. i did almost the same thing.

this is what i put on mine:

AS YOU ARE A PART OF OUR LIVES,
PLEASE BE PART OF OUR CELEBRATION.

WE HAVE RESERVED (#) SEAT(S) IN YOUR HONOR.

NAME(S):_____________________

___ I/WE ACCEPT ___ I/WE DECLINE

PLEASE REPLY BY SEPTEMBER 17, 2006

i filled in how many seats. let me just give you a word of advice: be very careful and take your time. you don't want to give an rsvp card with too many seats to the wrong family

i typed in the number. very similar to your original idea.
