Response Cards .. just an idea

While my invitations have already gone out and I decided against numbering the response cards in case someone forgets to write in their names, I was thinking, maybe an alternative to numbering the cards would be simply to write in the return address for the guests. Sure, it would take a little longer to write in an address than a number, but than you would eliminate having to look up the number .. the name would be right there. This is one regret I have .. but so far we haven`t received a mystery response. Plus, many people (at least what I`m noticing) don`t write their return address. One other thing I thought about ... people might get a little suspicious about seeing a number (even in very light pencil), and wonder why they`re so far down the list, if they`re somewhere in the 90s or something. :)

the numbering idea

I have just heard of this idea recently, and then received an invitation with a number on the back of the response card. I noticed it right away, and although I didn`t think the higher number means I`m less important, you never know how other people are you to react. Plus, do people really return the response card and not write in their name? There`s usually a blank line right there for that reason!!

the numbering idea

We are in the process of doing our invitations and I am numbering the response cards. My sister got married a few years ago and she got quite a few that came back with out a name on them. Also, I put my list in alphabetical order and just numbered the invite that way so the numbers dont mean anything of importance....just your last name!! :)

the numbering idea

We found the numbering came in handy in a couple of instances. Hubby is part of a large Italian family, with several family members having the same last name. In a couple of instances they just wrote Mr. & Mrs. XXXXX with no first name and we were not sure which couple it was without the numbers. The postmark offered a little bit of a clue, but you can't always count on that.

the numbering idea

The numbering was good, I did it too. I didn`t need it because everyone wrote their name in but it wouls definitely come in handy if you have a few forgetful people. I don`t think anyone would care if they see a number on their card. It`s your wedding and you are putting a lot of thought into it, as you should, but I can bet you that your guests aren`t so concerned about small things like this. Enjoy!
